HTC has unveiled its new flagship model, the HTC Butterfly 2, in Tokyo in cooperation with KDDI. The smartphone will also be available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
With the launch of the HTC Butterfly 2, together with the prevailing flagship HTC One (M8), HTC will continue to strengthen its leading position in the high-end Android smartphone segment, said Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia.
The model sports a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 quad-core CPU and 5-inch Full HD display. The Butterfly 2 also features a water-resistant and dust-resistant plastic case and 13-megapixel camera, and supports 4G LTE technology.
The Butterfly 2 will be available in Taiwan in early September, priced at NT$20,900 (US$697) unlocked. HTC will cooperate with Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications and Taiwan Star Telecom to promote the model.
Combined sales of the HTC One (M8) and HTC Butterfly in the Taiwan market have exceeded one million units, Tung revealed. The Butterfly, launched in 2013, has a product life span of over one year.
